“Fish traps exist to capture fish. Once you’ve got the fish you can forget the trap. Rabbit snares exist to capture rabbits. Once you’ve got the rabbit you can forget the snare. Words exist to capture meaning. Once you’ve got the meaning, you can forget the words. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words? I’d like to have a word with him!” — Zhuangzi, 4th century BC
I forget the name of the original article or the author of it but it mentions two worlds. One that is bound by the law of physics. Calculable, tangible, and strictly objective. The other is the internal dimension of a human being. With feelings, sentiment, and abstracts.
The author concludes this is the two types of worlds and interpolating the rules from one world to the other leads to chaos.
When calculating the national balance sheet, leave your fear of economic depression behind. When flirting with a woman, leave your vain invention behind. It’s like playing ice hockey with the sneakers on.
Dos Mundos is my attempt to observe the two worlds and how can I benefit from them.
Before we begin, leave the debate of which of the two worlds is important. This is irrelevant in this discussion.
Let’s go understand these worlds together.
The world of physics
Everything in the world is made up of atoms. These tiny things are further divided into names I cannot remember but the point is, they are tiny. They have a specific position, velocity, and energy within. These variables are calculable and can be represented with the basic units of measurement like meter, sec & Joule.(Excluding the Duality principle: It’s a quantum.)It is through this understanding of physics, collectively humans have built from a pen to a spacecraft.
The world of Sentient
We don’t know much about it. Yes, there are schools of philosophy, religion, and psychology. But there is no surety when it comes to an individual examination. There is no unit to measure how much sadness or love one feels. Again this is the problem we had initially. We do not interchange the rule of one world with the other. And every other topic is just a belief or a theory with no proof. Because in this world experience matters. One has to experience it in order to realize it.
You cannot just read a book about business and think you know how to do a business. You have to actually register it, hire people/computers, pay their expenses, sell a product or service, and actually generate revenue.
Similarly, You cannot just read a book about passive aggression and expect to know how to deal with a passive-aggressive person.
Therefore the realm of sentient is ambiguous, it’s abstract. But it influences the physical world. Even though we are not sure the emotion you call jealousy is your likeness towards something or someone.
But how do we benefit?
So far, we know about two worlds (Mundos). One is tangible with measurements. The other is abstract with no measurement.
Therefore, before you get angry at someone or something, realize the source may be something else. A poor financial stand, a pinched nerve because of sciatica, an empty breakfast, or even listening to music.
Now this synchronous cause and effect will continue. But the bigger question is will you be there to notice it?
