How you solve any problem?
“Winners can step back from the canvas of their lives like an artist gaining perspective. They make their lives a work of art / an individual masterpiece.” — Denis Waitley
For the past years, I have been experimenting with myself, challenging my perspective. I spent some time to properly categorize the way I define a perspective and how I use it as a tool to solve all of my problems. It’s so simple that you might just ignore it. Therefore, try and look at your perspective from a child’s look. Something new, something fun. Make that curious muscle work.
Inside:
I like going inside myself first. But wait, What is this inside?
It’s everything that’s inside of you. Everything includes your initial reactions. Your feelings, thoughts, emotions, imagination & inspiration. Everything that is mumbling inside of your beautiful head and bubbling inside your open heart. That is your inside.
It’s everything that you try and stop with your ethics & morality from expressing itself.
If you can look at this inside and you still have this awareness, Right now. Congratulations, You are exercising your awareness. We are good.
This is a place where you take the role of an observer. This is a place, where you are a witness to your internal turmoils. Your “Stuff”. Everything you try and hide from the outer world. Don’t worry, I am not gonna tell anyone. It’s our secret.
You have no control here. You are not required to act at this stage, simply witness your desires, witness your reactions, witness your thoughts, witness your stimulations, and your sensations. Identify yourself as a witness. They will rise within you and they will dissolve within you.
Outside:
Let go outside now. But wait, what is this outside?
It’s everything that is outside of you. Everything includes your body, your room, your family, your friends, your society, your culture, your events, your college, your career, your relationships, your economy, your politic, your nation, your earth, your everything. Anything and everything after YOUR is the outside.
This is where you lose most of your control. Your actions are within your control but the reaction or the result is not. In the outside world, many variables are working against you.
But don’t be disheartened. This world is governed by laws. Invisible laws and principles direct the world outside. we need to educate ourselves with the rules and principles. The more we are educated about “how this world operates” the more control we can practice. But what are these laws?
We are familiar with the law of gravity? yes. law of electromagnetism? yes. Similarly, there are principles of economy, corporate, relationships, exercise. Our responsibility is to find a place where we can identify these laws and educate ourselves. Then use these principles, and continue our observations in life.
Point of view:
There are always 3 kinds of truth in this world. My truth, your truth, and the truth.
Realize that my reality is very different from your reality. Similarly, your reality is very different from my reality, likewise, our reality is completely different from “the” reality. Do you see the comedy in it?
We have all grown up with many impressions. They can be imprints from our parents, our friends, cartoons, movies and many more. But every individual has a different perspective. Every human being has a different interpretation.
Whatever a person shares are just a point of view. Whatever I share is also just a point of view. Instead of the fighting because of our differences in our point of view, we choose. We choose to look at the other person’s point of view. Since you & I are a witness, We have a choice. A choice to see there is no need to Fight. This relationship between you & me only requires understanding, appreciation & respect. Any difference is futile, It’s just a point of view.
Identity:
Well, What is our identity? This part is fun to play with. Tell me how do you Identify yourself? do you Identify with your gender, your occupation, your relationship status, your family, your school, your nation, your planet, or your cosmic self? Sorry I had to plug-in the last one. It’s funny how some people say they are cosmic beings. I know the Right answer.
I Don’t Know.
Simple, I don’t know. I cannot Identify myself without a reference. Give me a reference and I will tell you my identity. Now don’t take my words literally, I am not an enlightened person. I am simply curious, What is wrong with I don’t know? Well, I would like to know, but now, I don’t know.
Now let’s play a simple game.
Do you identify yourself as a boy, a girl, a son, a daughter, a lover, a parent, a brother, a student, a programmer, an entrepreneur, a designer, or just a human being? Do you see how much we don’t know?
You can even choose to identify yourself with a community, a society, a nation, a social status, a monetary status or even a particular skill. Once you can witness what are you identifying yourself with, you can make better decisions.
Conclusion:
Ok now, what do we do?
This is all you do. The work is done.
Realize you are a witness to everything that is happening within you and around you. Then and only then will you realize you have absolute power to do anything, but now anything becomes a choice. Because you are not a witness.
Your sorrow is no more your sorrow. It is the sorrow of a boy who is disappointed. Your joy is no more your joy, It is the joy of a son who made his parents happy. This perspective gives you the power to choose. You can choose to be happy or you can choose to be sad. Your choice. I like being mostly in a happy place, but sometimes, I consciously or even unconsciously choose to become sad. But even then you can sense your ability to choose.
Now the million dollars question, what do you witness? What do you choose?
