Inflation Hedged Skills
“If for the company you cannot find a wise and prudent friend who leads a good life, then, like a king who leaves behind a conquered kingdom, or like a lone elephant in the elephant forest, you should go your way alone.”- Dhammapada
I cannot see the future, And neither can you.
The present CPI is 5.3%, even though the target average rate was 2%. What will be the numbers? How would I know? What would be the price tomorrow? I don’t know.
So how do we live in this uncertainty? How do we make sure we are secured and even better thriving in the future?
If you are getting concerned over the future price and your affordability, you are not alone. It’s every individual's concern.
Now, the question is what are we going to do about it?
This is not financial advising, we have too many gurus for that or just pick a book and read.
This is about your ability to generate income, irrespective of the global economy. Your ability to have the options at your disposal.
Just imagine, wouldn’t it be great to have your income increase if the inflation rate increased? Rather than scurrying to save every penny, we could be laid back and not worry about our next bill.
But coming back to the reality, our income remains stagnant for a decade whereas the cost of our everyday product leisurely increases.
The inflation hedged skill sets are different from the previously described amphibious skill sets.
Your inflation hedged skill must be in an essential trade, in-demand, and empirical.
Now, what do I mean by it?
Your skill must be essential. It must be an essential component in functioning and progressing the civilization as a whole. Trades to do with construction, security, electronic appliance, medicine, and accounting.
Your skill must be in demand. It must be something most people interact with in everyday life. Trades to do with plumbing, computer programming, fixing roof/ floor, and fixing cars.
Your skill must be empirical. It must be something difficult to mimic. The skills require years of refinement to master. Skills to do with being an engineer, a doctor, a ballroom dancer, and a wise entrepreneur.
