Living with options, but not too much.

“If you can take it from me, it was never a part of me.”- Manoj Pun.

In the land of wonder, Rustam and Nawab lived in a village called weareallequal(Pun intended). Despite its name, the village had a similar socio-economic hierarchy to any other place.

Equation:

Rustom lived in a small cottage with a family of 5. He, his wife, and three sons. Nawab lived in a villa with a family of 5. He, his wife, and three sons.

Rustom worked as a munshi, earning the bare minimum. Making the ends meet for his family. Food, Cloth, and a shelter. That is all he could promise.

Nawab was a tradesman, earning the maximum. He provided affluence for his family. Food, cloth, and shelter were not a big deal. That is what he provided.

The binary representation of their life is this, Rustom is out of options and Nawab is with options.

At this current time, Rustom does not have a choice on his expenditure or his investments. He is only concerned about his and his family’s survival. But Nawab has a choice on his expenditure and his investments. He is concerned about his and his family’s survival but also about their growth. Now let us add some variables to this equation.

Rustom has a choice to create options in his life. He can get a more secure job with steady pay and still pursue his penmanship during his spare time. He could even learn a new skill set to make himself productive.

Nawab on the other hand has more to lose because of his options. He could lose his connections or lose the command structure from an unforeseen event. He also has the choice to create his options, but at what expense?

Both Rutom’s and Nawab’s family has a choice to live a life of ideal leisure or an active pursuit.

If the next generation turns out to be a success, For Rustom, You can use quotes like, “It’s from the dirt a lotus flower blooms.”. For Nawab, You can use quotes like, “Like father, Like son.”

But If the next generation turns out to be a failure, For Rustom, You can use quotes like, “Like father, Like son.”. For Nawab, You can use quotes like, “Every man makes his own fortune.”

Now this means the next generation is not in our main equation.

Now let us use derivative for Nawab’s option in life. He started with abundant options, will the added option make him suddenly able to make wiser decisions? Or will he even be able to make a decision because of infinite choices?

But you can not talk about options unless you have made options in your life.

Would you live with options or without options? How are you gonna make your options?

This is my wish & my blessing, may you find who you truly are & express it to the world.

Lots of Love, Chao.
