The mask of Zorro.
“Sensuality without love is a sin; love without sensuality is worse than a sin.” -Jose Bergamin
In 1919, Johnston McCulley, an American writer, introduced a character named el zorro in his work Pueblo de Los Angeles.
I had first been introduced to el zorro from a 1996 television show “The legend of zorro” by Sukehiro Tomita. And Later, in the 1920 silent movie “The mask of zorro” followed by 1998 “The legend of zorro” played by Antonio Banderas.
Disregarding the minutiae between the plot stories, one thing remains the same in all of the different adaptations of Zorro’s Story. ZORRO.
In every adaptation, Zorro plays two different lives. One of a gentleman, uninterested, dull, and naive. And another of a Hero, passionate, ferocious, and sharp. The contrasting duality and a particular character trait have captured my attention to this day.
After completing his training, Antonio (a trainee) asks, Anthony Hopkins, Zorro’s master, to let him wear the mask.
To which, Anthony replies, “But when to montero’s world I must give you something which is completely beyond your reach.”
Antoni: Oh yes? And what is that?
Anthony: Charm.
That’s right today's topic is charm.
I could learn a new language but the charm is something that cannot be learned. It blossoms when the time is right, until then keep plowing the soil.
I do not know when it begins or when it ends, or What it is, or how it is done.
But charm entices the basics of a person’s sexuality: to flirt and to tease.
A charismatic person can excite both sexes. A man and a woman. At this point, it is no longer about physical sexes. It becomes an interaction of the sexual energy within.
A masculine is instructive, direct, and assuring. A feminine is receptive, ambiguous, and turbulent.
They are not opposite or competing with one another. They are complementary. And unless a person does not comprehend this concept, any interaction is just a jerked exchange of give and take.
But how does one harness this Charm and become a charismatic person?
I could tell you whatever I think we could do to harness charm. But that would be all nonsensical. The answer is, “I do not know”.
But every once in a while I witness this charm in a young person, full of excitement, in an old person, full of serenity. Sometimes in a man and sometimes in a woman. Across all time, occupation and place.
Charm can be witnessed everywhere, in a business, in management, in a pack of rottweilers, in your relationship (not just the romantic ones), with your family members, with your friends, and even with a stranger.
I do not know how you or even I can be a charismatic person but the pursuit is to pursue the truth. And there is no your truth or my truth. It’s just our opinion. I am talking about the truth, the truth which cannot be touched, burnt, or cut.
The truth can only be witnessed by two-person. You and me.
Your ability to radiate some quality that attracts people and stirs their emotions in a way that is beyond their control.
That is the charm, and this is how you harness it.
Witness it.
